Prior to Direct Oil & Gas Inc., Mr. Catherwood, a seasoned oil and gas executive, was with Husky Energy and acted in several roles related to Foothills exploration, developing and managing the North American Mergers and Acquisitions team and commercial management of the global exploration portfolio. Prior to Husky Energy in April 2003 Mr. Catherwood was employed by Nexen energy in a variety of roles related to operations, engineering, and project management. Prior to Nexen, he was involved in the service industry in several supervisory and management and roles with Nowsco, Canadian Fracmaster, and Petrolite Chemicals. In addition to his oilfield experience, Mr. Catherwood operates a pedigreed seed farm in Saskatchewan and is involved in the growing of cereals, oilseeds, and pulse crops. Mr. Catherwood has over 30 years’ experience in both the oil industry and the agricultural sector in operations, management, and acquisitions. He has a record of identifying market opportunities and developing successful business models, building integrated value chains, and maximizing productivity, Mr. Catherwood has a degree in Engineering from the University of Regina and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School in Scotland.
Warren F.E. Coles
Director, VP of Finance & CFO
Prior to joining Direct Oil & Gas Inc., Mr. Coles served as the Vice President Finance & CFO for Exall Energy Corporation from February 2010 to March 2015. Prior to Exall Mr. Coles served as Vice President Finance for Black Mountain Energy Corporation from May 2008 to February 2010 and as Chief Financial Officer for DeeThree Exploration Inc., Dual Exploration Ltd., and Deep Resources Ltd. from 2004 to 2008. Prior to Deep Resources Ltd., Mr. Coles spent 10 years with Applied Terravision Systems Inc., a publicly traded technology firm that developed software for the North American oil & gas industries, culminating in his role as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Coles has over 25 years of financial and business experience and has a track record of economically achieving stakeholder growth through enhanced business productivity as well as through acquisitions. Mr. Coles has an MBA from the University of Calgary, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Calgary.
P.Eng., Senior Engineer – Operations
Marek Kozera is a Professional Engineer with over twenty-three years of experience in the western Canadian oil and gas industry. He has gained extensive petroleum engineering experience through different positions in the oil and gas industry. Prior work experience includes employment at Drakkar Energy Ltd., High North Resources Ltd., Winter Petroleum Ltd., Java Energy, Campion Resources Ltd., and Norcen Energy Resources Ltd. Mr. Kozera has his Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from AGH University of Science and Technology. Mr. Kozera is a member of APEGA.
Ryan Hodak (Veracity Energy Ltd.)
Head of Field
Mr. Hodak has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector as both Production Superintendent and Field Site Supervisor. His oil and gas career has been very diverse, responsible for field operations, facility construction projects, optimization projects, and compliance programs. Mr. Hodak specializes in the management and optimization of field operations and rotary equipment. Mr. Hodak’s initial experience included work in the exploration and service sector of the oil and gas industry. He was an integral part of expanding Pason Systems growth into Mexico, dividing his time between Northern Alberta and Mexico. He oversaw the training of new personnel and ensured they were equipped to handle the projects and specific tasks, particularly as they would often need to work alone in remote areas. Mr. Hodak later transitioned to the production side of the industry, overseeing both large and small properties for multiple oil and gas companies. He was primarily responsible for optimizing operations, operator training and supervision, regulatory compliance and cost control. Mr. Hodak managed multiple contract operating contracts for several junior companies including Trilogy Energy, Direct Energy, Rockyview Energy, Oban Energy, Velvet Energy, Sabretooth Energy, and Cequence Energy. Mr. Hodak also has field supervision experience with both surface and subsurface equipment that includes: pump jack sets, various wireline work, and service rig work. He has been site supervisor for workovers and construction projects in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Mr. Hodak has comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and safety protocols and requirements. He has significant experience interacting with regulatory bodies in Western Canada (OGC, AER, and SIR) and fully understands and manages integrity programs such as PIM, POM, along with ABSA and other initiatives such as EPAP.
